Chef John Bogan and the Lake Geneva School of Cooking Team
At the Lake Geneva School of Cooking, we are committed to purchasing a portion of our meats, fruits and vegetables from producers who are dedicated toward environmentally-friendly farming, and who meet our high quality standards.
During warm-weather months, we offer classes that include trips to the
Lake Geneva Farmers Market Thursday’s from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm
to enjoy a bountiful selection of locally-grown fruits and vegetables. We also meet with local farmers regularly throughout the year, to ensure that cooking enthusiasts who attend our classes use only the finest ingredients to create fabulous appetizers, entrées and desserts.
Benefits of "Buying Local"
Buying local helps us appreciate and utilize the flavors and variety of each season in our recipes, menus and classes. Produce that is locally grown can remain on the vine or branch longer, and is therefore fresher and more flavorful. In addition, local products have a reduced impact on the environment because they don’t have to be trucked from California, Florida or Texas.
In addition, buying local helps sustain neighboring farmers, contributing to the success of Lake Geneva's local growers and economy. Each trip to a local farm or market generates more money, profiting these growers and the local economy. We, at the Lake Geneva School of Cooking, are proud to support the following family farms and businesses:
River Valley Mushroom Farm & Kitchens: Mushrooms & Organic Vegetables, Slades Corner, WI
Wilson Farm Meats: Locally Raised Pork & Smoked Bacon, Elkhorn, WI
Lake Geneva Country Meats: Meats, Sausages, Wine & Produce, Lake Geneva, WI
Yuppie Hill Poultry: Eggs and Poultry, Burlington, WI
Thrill of the Grill
Warm weather brings outdoor activities and nothing says the great outdoors more than grilling!
From appetizer to dessert, we'll keep you fired up about grilling!
Enjoy a Sparkling Wine Reception with Parmigiano Popovers as Chef introduces himself and goes over some of his favorite grilling recipes and demonstrates some basic cuts and important safety techniques before getting broken up into teams.
Then let the "hands-on" cooking begin as you learn professional techniques for charring and searing as well as mastering how to keep meats, seafood, fruits, and vegetables tender, juicy, and flavorful.
After all the cooking is done, everyone will sit down for a fine dining experience with a gourmet meal that will be sure to make you feel like a true "King of the Grill".
Friday, May 29th, 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Friday, June 5th, 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Thursday, June 25th, 6:00 pm- 10:00 pm

My Life in France
The Lake Geneva School of Cooking celebrates the recipes and cuisine of Julia Child and honoring her memoir, My Life in France.
Julia’s fun and approachable cooking style allows everyone to feel at home in the kitchen. Her witty character and passion for sharing her love of cooking allows Chef John to create a relaxed feel to this class. Whether you’re looking to add a little French inspiration into your cooking or just have an entertaining evening out ~ this is the class for you!
In this hands-on class, you will learn how to make the best of Julia’s very own recipes. Her goal was to make all home chefs feel comfortable and confident in the kitchen, even when preparing fine foods and intimidating recipes.
The Lake Geneva School of Cooking embraces this approach and brings it to life with an intuitive and enjoyable culinary event.
Friday, June 12th, 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm
$85 per person
Our menu will include some of Julia Child’s favorite courses:
French Onion Soup
Chicken Coq au Vin
Once this hands-on class is complete, we will do as Julia did:
Take off our aprons and enjoy our meal!
A gourmet cooking experience
Spend a day with co-workers outside the office and head to Lake Geneva for a customized team-building event!
Following recipes in cookbooks or watching demonstration shows on television cannot equal the "experience" of real cooking classes that we at The Lake Geneva School of Cooking have to offer. We look forward to your company in joining us for a learning, lasting, and gourmet cooking experience.
