Role and Responsibility – Navigating through COVID-19

LAKE GENEVA SCHOOL OF COOKING IS CANCELING CLASSES EFFECTIVE,

THURSDAY, MARCH 19, 2020 THROUGH FRIDAY, APRIL 3, 2020.

Lake Geneva School of Cooking will cancel classes and reservations for all guests today through April 3, 2020.

All guests will have a 100% account credit applied to their LGSC account to be used toward a future class at the Lake Geneva School of Cooking.

 

For our family, friends and alumni who have scheduled classes April 4, 2020 through May 1, 2020 and would like to postpone to a future date, we have the following policy and procedures in place:

If you have a reservation from April 4, 2020 through May 1, 2020, we ask that you please use your Lake Geneva School of Cooking account to cancel/reschedule your reservation. We will monitor the both Federal and State guidelines regarding the safety of our guests and update our policy as new updates are provided.

Tableside Thursdays

with Jerry Pawlak

Reminiscent of the Good Ol' Days at the Playboy Club in Lake Geneva, Maitre d' Extraordinaire Jerry Pawlak will share stories and demonstrate tableside dining.

In the United States, the position of Maitre D’ may be a part of the role of a manager or supervisor in charge of the "front of the house" operations.  In the original French language Maitre D’ is literally the "master of the hotel".

In this combination of Hands-on class and Dinner Demonstration, you will help prepare Shrimp Scampi, Classic Caesar Salad, Steak Diane and Bananas Foster.

Enjoy this journey of a bygone era.

My Life in France with Julia Child

Join us at the Lake Geneva School of Cooking as we celebrate the recipes and cuisine of Julia Child and honoring her memoir, My Life in France. 

 

Julia’s fun and approachable cooking style allows everyone to feel at home in the kitchen.  Her witty character and passion for sharing her love of cooking allows Chef John to create a relaxed feel to this class.  Whether you’re looking to add a little French inspiration into your cooking or just have an entertaining evening out, this is the class for you!

 

In this hands-on class, you will learn how to make the best of Julia’s very own recipes. Her goal was to make all home chefs to feel comfortable and confident in the kitchen, even when preparing fine foods and intimidating recipes.  The Lake Geneva School of Cooking embraces this approach and brings it to life with an intuitive and enjoyable culinary event.

At the Lake Geneva School of Cooking, we are committed to purchasing a portion of our meats, fruits and vegetables from producers who are dedicated toward environmentally-friendly farming, and who meet our high quality standards.

During warm-weather months, we offer classes that include trips to the Lake Geneva Farmers Market every Thursday from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm to enjoy a bountiful selection of locally-grown fruits and vegetables.  We also meet with local farmers regularly throughout the year, to ensure that cooking enthusiasts who attend our classes use only the finest ingredients to create fabulous appetizers, entrées and desserts.

Benefits of "Buying Local"
Buying local helps us appreciate and utilize the flavors and variety of each season in our recipes, menus and classes. Produce that is locally grown can remain on the vine or branch longer, and is therefore fresher and more flavorful. In addition, local products have a reduced impact on the environment because they don’t have to be trucked from California, Florida or Texas.

In addition, buying local helps sustain neighboring farmers, contributing to the success of Lake Geneva's local growers and economy. Each trip to a local farm or market generates more money, profiting these growers and the local economy. We, at the Lake Geneva School of Cooking, are proud to support the following family farms and businesses:

Morel Mushroom Mania

You will learn about this different and amazing member of the Mushroom Family & make our meal highlighting the diverse tastes of this wonderful delicacy.

Morel Mushroom Mania Classes are held on Memorial Day Weekend, Friday, May 22nd and Sunday, May 24th.

 

Since the Morel Mushroom only sprouts from late-April through early-June, this is the perfect time to catch it in all its glory! 

 

Gather your family & friends and enjoy this unique experience with a “hands-on” cooking class exploring the Morel Mushroom.  From appetizer to dessert you’ll be cooking a delectable four course meal incorporating the Morel in different aspects throughout each dish.

Memorial Day Prime Time

This class promises to be a serious PRIME TIME STEAK GRILLING CLASS for all the meat lovers out there.

 

You and your teammates will learn the secrets of Charring and Searing your favorite Bone-In Prime Steak while also using a blow torch to caramelize Crème Brulee!

 

In this “Hands-On” four course cooking class you will begin by enjoying a Sparkling Wine and Parmigiano Popover Reception, a Grilled Prime “Bone In” Filet with accompanying delicious menu and a fabulous wine tasting.
